the unchained melody

generally, you find that when the words in a song title cannot be found in its lyrics, the title holds the deepest part of the meaning...

"Unchained Melody"
oh, my love, my darling, i've hungered for your touch a long, lonely time. & time goes by so slowly, & time can do so much, are you still mine?
i need your love, i need your love. God speed your love to me!
lonely rivers flow to the sea, to the sea, to the open arms of the sea. lonely rivers sigh, "wait for me, wait for me." i'll be coming home, wait for me!

think of the word "melody". i've heard it defined as a linear succession of musical tones which is perceived as a single entity. a single entity... the two become one, you could say.

think of the word "unchained". unhinged, unbound, released from shackles. i've read one definition - set free... there is hope for this prisoner.

think of "'wait for me'", "i'll be coming home". speaks of a return.

Unchained Melody - the hope of lovers reuniting.

my youth is slipping... literally

i woke up this morning feeling... a little bit of stinging pain, big old fat pain, & pain that just seemed to come up from underneath. (that was a play off of a Forrest Gump line; ya like it?)

it's been 2 days & still, i'm, what would you call it?, uncomfortable. would you like to hear the tale?.. (Alladin, like it again)

so i'm playing with my children. there's music & dancing & laughing & goofiness & going too far & yelling & time outs & apologies & getting back up & dancing again. i notice the laminate flooring throughout the house... perfect sliding conditions. removed the rug in the hallway. turned up the volume... "pump it". as the blackeyed peas sang "hu hu...", i revved. as the blackeyed peas sang, "aaaaaaaaaah...", i pushed off, the baby laughing & clapping behind me.

then, for just a moment, i was flying. by the way, when you're in the moment, just a moment is a very long time. next was breathlessness... for just a moment. as the baby said, "mommy? you awight?", i realized i was staring at the ceiling with my hands flat beside my head, lying motionless. motionless, except for my twitching hips, of which i had landed flat on.

so 2 days later... stinging pain. i guess it's true what they say - "the bigger they are, the harder they fall." or is it "the older they are..."?

late bloomer

so i like to write in redish; it's my favorite color & i'm glad it's available. it's also the color of my face right now as i sit up close to the fireplace... but here was the only place to set up my computer.

my friend talked me into blogging. so, here i am, late in the game with technology, as usual. with my luck, blogging will be out of style in a month and i'll still be sitting here doing my thing until a few years pass & i realize that something else is what everyone has been into. much like facebook, and iPods, and cool cell phones, and Iyaz, and Wii... i still don't have a Wii, or an iPod. get WITH it, me! i mean, 26 is not that old. i should be up on these things. i should be up on what's hip, what's groovy, what's off the chain, what's swell, what's switched on, what's the latest. i promise, i'll get there.

this blog will have to be short tonight, because there's a snow storm going on outside & we've lost our power 3 times tonight. i've had to power my computer up 3 times tonight. it took me 3 times to set up this account so that i could give you my short blog. i've had to put the children back to bed 3 times tonight. and... oooo, the lights are dimming... here comes a 4th...
